Appeal for witnesses following a fatal collision

It's after a cyclist died following a collision involving a red Seat car on Aston Abbotts Road between the villages of Weedon and Aston Abbotts at around 8:10am on Monday (6/10).

The cyclist, a man in his fifties, sadly died at the scene. The man’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

A 40-year-old man, from Aylesbury, who was the driver of a second vehicle, a black Ford Puma, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has been released on bail.

Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Oliver Cahill-Smith of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the cyclist who has very sadly died following this collision, and we continue to support them at this extremely difficult time.

“We are carrying out a thorough investigation to establish exactly what happened in the moments leading up to the collision and are appealing to anybody who may have witnessed the incident, or the circumstances immediately beforehand, to come forward.

“We are particularly keen to speak to a driver of another black car that may have been overtaken prior to the incident, and could be an important witness, as they would have been on the Aston Abbotts Road, heading towards Weedon around the same time.

“I would also ask anyone who was driving in the area at the time and may have dash-cam footage, but has not yet spoken to police, to please get in touch as even the smallest detail could assist our enquiries."
