The Owners of The George Pub have announced they are handing the keys back to the landlords.
The message on their Facebook page read:
"Hi All. We hope everyone has had a great bank holiday weekend and has enjoyed celebrating the Queen's Jubilee.
It is with very heavy hearts that we (Sam & Rachel) have had to hand the keys to our beloved pub back to the landlords. After working incredibly hard to rebuild the business post Covid we could not reach a mutually beneficial agreement with said landlords to sustain our pub.
Rest assured, we have tried everything to keep The George open during this incredibly tough time.
We both would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support and friendship over the past 4 and a half years. We leave with our heads held high and are immensely grateful for the new friendships we have made as well as some fantastic memories.
We would also like to give a huge thank you to our wonderful team. They have been amazing to work with and so supportive, upbeat and professional throughout You are all superstars.
Again, thank you and we hope to see you soon.
Sam & Rachel"
