Stoke Mandeville Parish Council have asked the government to step in with the design for the new South East Aylesbury Link Road.
The parish have said they would prefer a planning inspector to make the decision instead of Bucks Council.
They say the current design is particularly brutal and unsympathetic, would be a visual eyesore and would ruin parts of Aylesbury GardenTown.
They added that it would be of national and international embarrassment for a structure with no wheelchair access, to be built in the shadow of the Stoke Mandeville Stadium, home of the Paralympic movement.
