The three-car collision, involving a silver Nissan Juke, a white Ford Transit van and a blue BMW X5, happened at around 7.25pm on Thursday 20 January on Hatters Lane, near to the junction with Totteridge Road.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Elizabeth Scurlock, of the Joint Operations Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said:

“I am appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this incident, that has not yet come forward to please do so.

“Hatters Lane is a residential area subject to a speed limit of 30mph, and I am keen to hear from anyone who may have seen a blue BMW X5, moments before the collision occurred to please contact me.

“A woman in her twenties was seriously injured as result of this collision. The passenger of the car, a six year old girl was also injured.

“A car with four Asian men stopped at the scene and assisted with extracting the injured people from the Nissan Juke. I am very grateful to them for and would ask that they also please get in touch.

“I’d also ask any motorists with dash-cams who were in the area at the time this happened, and residents with CCTV and doorbell devices, to please check any footage in case it may have captured something that could help with the investigation.

“You can make a report online or by calling 101, quoting reference 43220029068.

“Alternatively, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111”.

A 49 year old man from High Wycombe has since been arrested on suspicion of driving without insurance, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop and driving without a license and has been released under investigation.
