Bucks Council granted permission this week.
A defibrillator and bleed control kit could be available around the clock outside a Princes Risborough building society after plans for the emergency equipment were approved.
Buckinghamshire Council granted Nationwide Building Society permission on September 23 to install the equipment on the external wall of its branch at 9 High Street.
Nationwide said it wants people to have rapid, 24-hour access to a defibrillator and bleed control kit in an emergency. The equipment would be housed in secure external cabinets in a prominent position where people can see and reach it.
The branch is within the Princes Risborough Conservation Area and close to listed buildings. The council’s heritage officer said the installation’s modern appearance and prominent position would add to visual clutter on the High Street, causing minor harm to the character of the conservation area.
However, the officer said the public benefit of accessible emergency equipment in a central location outweighed that limited harm. They raised no objection on heritage grounds and said the proposal would not harm the significance of nearby listed buildings.
The case officer’s report said no public representations had been received when it was written. Princes Risborough Town Council made no comment on the application.
The planning permission allows the equipment to be installed; the documents do not say it is already in place.
