Aylesbury has officially appointed its new Mayor and Deputy Mayor for the 2026/27 civic year following the Annual Town Council meeting yesterday (14/5).
Councillor Sherilyn Bateman has been elected as the new Mayor of Aylesbury, succeeding former Mayor Nidhi Mehta. Cllr Bateman previously served as Deputy Mayor and will now take on the town’s ceremonial leadership role for the forthcoming municipal year.
Councillor Tuffail Hussain has been elected as Deputy Mayor for 2026/27.
The formal Mayor Making Ceremony, during which Cllr Bateman will officially assume office from Cllr Mehta, is scheduled to take place on 29 May.
The Town Council said it was pleased to announce the appointments and looked forward to supporting both civic leaders throughout the year ahead.
