From around 7:30am this morning, listeners contacted the Jam Line reporting bollards up from Friarage Road, around the Waterside Theatre roundabout, and along the right-hand lane of Walton Street toward the Gyratory — despite no visible work taking place.
This marks at least the fourth instance of roadworks in the area over the past few months — raising questions from residents and commuters about why more works are taking place, especially given that Walton Street was recently resurfaced following previous roadworks.
Bucks Council who give permits for roadworks gave the following information:
- These works are being carried out by ESP – an electricity firm
- It’s a phased project involving cable pulling, hence intermittent lane closures
- The lane closures should only be in place when works are being undertaken – this isn’t always visible – however this morning we have issued a fixed penalty notice as lanes had been coned off when no works were taking place at the time the council inspected
- These works are due to finish at the beginning of December – please check One.Network for updates
We are still waiting to hear from ESP Electricity Ltd.
