A man has been fined over £1,500 for fly-tipping after he was caught on camera dumping waste in Flackwell Heath.
Cezary Subocz, from Harrow in Middlesex, pleaded guilty to the offence of illegal dumping when he appeared at High Wycombe Magistrates Court on Wednesday 5th October 2022.
A Buckinghamshire Council spokesperson said: “Another criminal has learned the hard way that fly-tipping in Buckinghamshire won't be tolerated.”
The court heard that on 28th January this year, waste which included fence posts, cement, and a bucket, was found dumped at Spring Lane, Flackwell Heath in Buckinghamshire.
The Council's Enforcement Team was carrying out surveillance at the location at the time due to the area being heavily blighted with fly-tipping. Consequently, a camera recorded the suspect's vehicle which was traced back to Mr Cezary Subocz.
Mr Subocz told enforcement officers at High Wycombe Police Station that he was concerned the materials he dumped were moving around in his car causing damage - so he dumped them but was intending to go back and collect the waste. However, he explained, he forgot to do so.
Magistrates fined Subocz £461 and ordered him to pay clean up and investigation costs of £1,010. A victim surcharge of £46 was also levied – making a total to pay of £1,517.
Gareth Williams, Cabinet Member for Climate Change & Environment said: "Once again we have caught another fly-tipper in the act and once again, we have been successful in bringing them to justice in court. This should be a lesson to anyone else who thinks they can fly-tip in Buckinghamshire and get away with it. We have eyes everywhere and if we catch you, we will look to prosecute."
