Emergency works are being carried out by Thames Water on Tring Road in Aylesbury.
The work is taking place near to the junction with King Edward Avenue, due to a burst water main.
Buckinghamshire Highways says the work will continue into the weekend.
Motorists are being asked to avoid the area if possible.
