Bucks told to standby for snow

A yellow weather warning has been issued by the Met office, between 3am and 5pm tomorrow (24/1)

The forecast suggests snow is due to hit Aylesbury and other parts of Bucks for most of the day, with the heaviest dumping around lunchtime.

As much fun as snow can be, both Aylesbury Vale Police and Bucks Fire and Rescue have put out posts, warning of the dangers the conditions can bring.

They say to only travel when it is absolutely necessary and to think ahead, plan your journey, leave in plenty of time, slow down and keep your distance.

They're also warning to expect:

  • some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces;
  • some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths;
  • possible travel delays on roads stranding some vehicles and passengers;
  • possible delays or cancellations to rail and air travel;
  • some rural communities could become cut off;
  • power cuts may occur and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected.
