Bucks Radio reveals TV favourite will join Waterside Panto this year

Emma at Breakfast rubbed the magic lamp and discovered Holby City and Eastenders’ favourite Davood Ghadami will join the cast of Aladdin at the Waterside Theatre this Christmas.

Davood will play Abanazar in the show, which runs from Fri 2 Dec ’22 – Mon 2 Jan ’23. He joins the previously announced duo of Andy Collins and La Voix who return to tread the panto boards once more due to popular demand.

Born in Harlow, Essex, Davood is no stranger to the screen with television work including guest leads in Doctor Who, Top Boy, Silent Witness, Skins and Law & Order. Most recently he is best known for playing the series regular Kush Kazemi in Eastenders for which he won Best Newcomer at the TV Choice Awards. He was also nominated for Best Newcomer and Best Actor at The British Soap Awards, and recently played series regular Eli Ebrahimi in Holby City and Nitin Shamsie in The Chelsea Detective. Davood was a contestant in the 15th series of Strictly Come Dancing, partnered with dancer Nadiya Bychkova and reached the quarter finals.

Theatre work includes playing Amir in 13 written by Mike Bartlett at The National Theatre, as well as working at York Theatre Royal and Pilot Theatre.

Davood is ready to embrace the boos and is looking forward to whipping up a panto storm:

I have heard amazing things about the Waterside’s panto, and have been forewarned that the audiences are likely to give me a good ol’ booing! Well, that’s great because I’m ready to be a baddie in a league of my own! Watch out families of Bucks and beyond, this is going to be one helluva carpet ride – get practising your hisses and I’ll look forward to meeting you this Christmas – MWA HA HA!’
