Bucks MP marks a year in office

From fighting HS2 to helping with DVLA issues, Chesham and Amersham’s MP has responded to over 4,000 queries over the past year.

Chesham and Amersham’s MP has been celebrating one year in office this week.

Sarah Green has promised to continue as ‘a champion for local people’, having responded to more than 4,000 requests for help

She says she has been fighting the destruction HS2 is causing and the impact of the cost of living crisis on the community.

Sarah has been meeting regularly with local residents and responded to more than 4,400 requests for help, advice and information. Many of these requests related to residents struggling to access the services and support they need in their daily lives, from the DVLA, HMRC and passport office through to local healthcare and housing services.

In Parliament, Sarah has cast 222 votes on legislation, submitted two Bills of her own and spoken up on issues that matter to local people. Sarah has raised 'the devastating destruction' that HS2 is inflicting on the local area and called on HS2 Ltd. to improve accountability, communication and transparency.

Sarah has also championed the protection of our local environment, specifically calling for greater protections for our globally rare chalk streams which are under threat from pollution, over-abstraction, and other environmental damage.

After observing local services suffering a 'death by a thousand cuts', Sarah has spoken up for our community, demanded better from this government and called on them to protect the local transport links, postal services, banks and policing.

Commenting on her first year in office, Sarah Green MP said:

"One year ago, local residents put their trust in me when you voted to elect me your Member of Parliament. Every day, I am honoured to have been given the chance to serve my local community. Thank you for giving me the chance to stand up for this wonderful area.

"There is still much to be done. Not least, addressing a cost-of-living crisis that is affecting so many households, we have people in urgent need of assistance getting in touch with my office every day.

"I will keep doing my best every day to be a champion for local people in Parliament."
