The council are warning residents to not get taken in by any emails, calls, websites or texts claiming they can get you your money quicker.
Those who pay their council tax via Direct Debit do not need to do anything and if you pay by other means your local council will contact you.
You will NOT be asked to make a payment to verify your bank details or pay anything in the form of a voucher.
If you think you may have handed over your bank details or made any payment to a scammer then you can contact your bank and report the matter to Action Fraud on 0300 1232040
