With increased cases of winter viruses, including flu and other respiratory illnesses, Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust is encouraging all patients and visitors to wear a facemask, which are available in the main reception areas and waiting rooms at all its sites.
All visitors and patients are also reminded to maintain excellent hand hygiene. Regularly washing your hands thoroughly or using hand sanitiser can significantly reduce the risk of spreading infections.
You may also see signs in certain areas asking you to wear a mask to help protect yourself and our staff.
Please delay visiting friends or relatives in hospital if you have:
• Flu-like symptoms
• An unexplained temperature or rash
• Experienced diarrhoea and/or vomiting in the last 48 hours
Chief Nurse Jenny Ricketts said: “We’re asking for your support to protect our patients, staff and visitors. We know that flu and other winter viruses are circulating widely, and even mild symptoms can lead to transmission without people realising. Wearing a facemask and cleaning your hands are simple but highly effective ways to keep everyone safe. It’s also important to get vaccinated if you are eligible as it’s the best way of protecting yourself and your loved ones.”
