The Bard of Aylesbury has been selected.
Local actor – and familiar Unbound face – Gareth Johnson will be taking on the role for its inaugural year.
Aylesbury Town Council, Queens Park Arts Centre’s production company Unbound have unveiled the brand-new project which will see the Bard create brand new stories and poems to mark special occasions and offer live performances throughout Aylesbury.
“Unbound have been working on all manner of theatre, film, and audio projects over the last nine years,” says the company’s creative producer Dario Knight. “As part of our decade-long mission to tell great stories and put storytelling at the heart of our hometown (and beyond), we’re thrilled to be working with Aylesbury Town Council to bring the ancient traditions of the bard to Aylesbury. It’s a chance to spread a bit of positivity, good humour and some truly great stories.”
The Bard’s first duty will be to help open Aylesbury Town Council’s St George’s Day Royal Historical Fayre at Discover Bucks Museum on Sunday 23 April.
