Aylesbury Youth Town Council announce their Charity of the Year

They have chosen Buckinghamshire Mind as their Charity of the Year.

Aylesbury Youth Town Council is a group of young people from the ages of 12 to 19 years who share a passion for matters concerning young people in Aylesbury, they will aim to support the charities work, discussing how the pandemic has impacted services available to young people.

Charlotte Carpenter joined Aylesbury Youth Town Council this year. She said:

“I joined the Youth Town Council to gain new skills and help others in my local community. I have volunteered at Town Council events in the past but wanted to play a bigger role in the Council. I’m looking forward to helping support Buckinghamshire Mind this year alongside the other Youth Town Councillors.”

The meet up was also an opportunity for new Youth Town Councillors to discuss how they plan to engage with more young people in the local community.

Mayor of Aylesbury, Cllr Anders Christensen, says:

“After two years of virtual meet ups, it’s great to see so many enthusiastic young people coming together and think about how they want to collectively support our community and Bucks Mind. I look forward to seeing their plans come together over the coming year.”
