Laura Kyrke-Smith says she's concerned about Buckinghamshire Council's decision to close its housing register, but praised the work of local charities.
Taking to social media after speaking about the issue in Parliament today (6/3), the Labour MP said:
I welcome the £5m that this Labour Government has invested into tackling homelessness in Bucks, and I celebrate the fantastic work that Aylesbury Homeless Action Group, Connection Support and Youth Concern are doing locally. They provide invaluable guidance and support to people facing homelessness.
In recent weeks I have heard from many constituents frightened by the decision of Buckinghamshire Council to close its housing register.
Today in Parliament, I asked Minister Lucy Powell MP about the importance of giving our full support to people facing homelessness, as well as the need to address the underlying causes of homelessness, such as the lack of affordable and social housing.
