Drivers using a major Bucks road face 15 more weeks of disruption, as urgent gas main replacement works are extended.
SGN says traffic lights on the A418 between the Wingrave Crossroads and Wing will remain in place until December 1 after further gas leaks were identified.
The pipe is a key supply line for the wider area Engineers will man the lights daily from 7am to 7pm to help keep traffic moving.
SGN apologises for the inconvenience and says work will be completed as quickly and safely as possible. Here's their full statement:
"From Monday 18 August, we will be urgently extending the length of gas main replacement work activity on the A418 in Aylesbury. This extension will mean works will continue on the A418 for an additional 15 weeks under two-way traffic lights. We plan to have these works completed by 01 December.
These works are urgent following gas escapes identified further along from where we are currently working. Replacing this now will mean can avoid further disruptive emergency gas leaks on this medium pressure pipe crucial for the supply of gas to the wider area.
We appreciate the temporary traffic lights may cause delays to local traffic, our engineers will be working as safely and quickly as possible to complete this work. To help keep the traffic flowing, we’ll be manning these lights seven days a week between the hours of 07:00 to 19:00.
