Railways Over Christmas

Customers travelling with Chiltern Railways are advised to check their journeys and allow extra time ahead of travelling this festive period. Services are expected to be busy and will finish early on different days between Christmas Eve and the New Year.

A breakdown of services across the festive period is below:

Wednesday 24 December 2025 (Christmas Eve):

Train services will finish earlier than usual. Last trains are confirmed as below:

Northbound:

20.02 Marylebone - Birmingham Moor Street
20.06 Marylebone - Oxford
20.36 Marylebone - Banbury
20.57 Marylebone - Aylesbury Vale Parkway (via Amersham)
21.15 Marylebone - Aylesbury (via High Wycombe)

Southbound:

20.15 Aylesbury - Marylebone (via Amersham)
20.17 Birmingham Moor Street - Marylebone
20.34 Aylesbury - Princes Risborough
20.49 Oxford - Marylebone

Thursday 25 December 2025 (Christmas Day):

No Chiltern Railways services will operate on this date.

Friday 26 December 2025 (Boxing Day):

Two trains an hour will be in operation between 8am and 9pm on Boxing Day, calling at London Marylebone, Wembley Stadium, Gerrards Cross, Beaconsfield, High Wycombe, Haddenham & Thame Parkway, Bicester Village and Oxford Parkway. There will be no Chiltern Railways' services on the rest of the route.

Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 December 2025:

An enhanced Chiltern Railways service will operate between Marylebone - Birmingham Moor Street, with lengthened and some additional trains.

Due to extended trains, Kings Sutton, Hatton and Lapworth will be served by rail replacement buses.

Rail replacement buses will also operate between Leamington Spa - Warwick - Stratford Upon Avon Parkway - Stratford Upon Avon for the entire day, connecting with trains at Leamington Spa.

Additionally, the railway is closed between Great Missenden and Aylesbury all day due to engineering works. No Chiltern Railways train services will operate between Marylebone and Aylesbury Vale Parkway (via Amersham). Rail replacement buses will operate, connecting with London Underground Metropolitan Line services to/from Baker Street at Amersham.

Monday 29 and Tuesday 30 December 2025:

An enhanced Chiltern Railways service will operate between Marylebone - Birmingham Moor Street, with lengthened and some additional trains. No trains will call at Sudbury Hill Harrow and Sudbury & Harrow Road.

Due to extended trains, Kings Sutton, Hatton and Lapworth will be served by rail replacement buses. 

Rail replacement buses will also operate between Leamington Spa - Warwick - Stratford Upon Avon Parkway - Stratford Upon Avon for the entire day, connecting with trains at Leamington Spa.

Additionally, no Chiltern Railways trains will operate between Marylebone and Amersham for the entire day. A limited shuttle service will operate between Amersham and stations to Aylesbury Vale Parkway, connecting with London Underground Metropolitan Line services to/from Baker Street at Amersham.

Wednesday 31 December 2025 (New Year's Eve):

An enhanced Chiltern Railways service will operate between Marylebone - Birmingham Moor Street, with lengthened and some additional trains. No trains will call at Sudbury Hill Harrow and Sudbury & Harrow Road.

Due to extended trains, Kings Sutton, Hatton and Lapworth will be served by rail replacement buses.

Rail replacement buses will also operate between Leamington Spa - Warwick - Stratford Upon Avon Parkway - Stratford Upon Avon for the entire day, connecting with trains at Leamington Spa.
