Children’s Hospital Pyjamas
Charity Brings Comfort to Children in Need with Pyjama Donations
A charity that has been spreading warmth and comfort since 2009 is once again calling for donations of brand-new pyjamas for children across the UK. Each year, the initiative collects pyjamas for youngsters ranging from newborns to age 18, which are then distributed to hospitals, hospices, women’s refuges, and school hospital teams nationwide.
Last year alone, an impressive 28,850 pairs of pyjamas were donated to 294 establishments across the country. This year, efforts are being focused locally on Stoke Mandeville Hospital Children’s Ward, Stoke Mandeville Hospital Spinal Unit, Ronald McDonald House Oxford, and Women’s Aid High Wycombe.
For children spending time in hospital, these small gifts can make a huge difference. On Christmas Day, youngsters on the wards are gifted a brand-new pair of pyjamas – a gesture that brings comfort during what can be a difficult time. Pyjamas are also vital in emergency situations, such as when clothes are cut off in A&E, when families are unable to travel home for essentials, or when unexpected hospital stays occur.
Having joined the charity three years ago, the local organiser is determined to expand support even further.
“My aim is to add more establishments, support more children, and make each collection amazing for them,” they said.
With the festive season fast approaching, the charity is once again appealing for donations to help ensure every child facing difficult circumstances receives the comfort of a fresh, cosy pair of pyjamas
