Aylesbury Police have issued some advice for rural communities after they have seen an increase of crime.
Livestock Theft advice from Aylesbury Vale Police:
"Check your livestock and the security of boundary fencing regularly.
Keep your hedges, fencing and gates in good repair: field gate hinges should have capping hinges so the can't be removed easily.
Use locking posts to obstruct large openings to yards.
Obstruct openings to fields when not in use.
Consider installing CCTV to cover the area. Nature Cams can be used in areas where there are no electricity.
Mark your livestock. This makes your animals more easily identifiable.
Graze livestock away from the roads.
If you notice anything or anyone suspicious around farm land, please call us on 101 or 999, whichever is more appropriate."
