We're being advised to allow extra time for journeys on the A418 tomorrow (26/7) with HS2 work set to close the road in both directions between the Coldhabour Roundabout and the Hartwell bend from 8am and 8pm
The map shows the closure while the official diversion will take motorists to Thame via Princes Risborough. There's also information for bus users below, and more on what's being done.
What's actually happening?
HS2 says workers "will be removing the temporary concrete barriers placed at the Meadoway junction. Access to the junction was closed in April to connect the gas pipe installed along the new road alignment. These works are complex and involved dealing with multiple underground utility services. The completion date for these works is now late July. Once the barriers are removed under the road closure, the A418 Oxford Road and Meadoway will be reopened".
More about the closure
There will be a diversion route for Meadoway and Mayflower Close access via Sedrup Lane. There will be traffic lights controlling the junctions of Portway Road and Sedrup Lane onto the A418 Oxford Road for safety reasons.
Pedestrian and cycle access along the old Oxford Road will be maintained through the one day closure, although cyclists will be required to dismount.
Emergency access will be maintained through the closure.
There will be disruption to the existing bus services between Aylesbury and Thame. Bus routes110 will divert via the Bicester Road, Upper Winchendon and Cuddington, resuming the normal route in Chearsley.
Bus route X20 will divert via Southcourt, Princes Risborough, Longwick and Kingsey and will miss all stops between Churchill Avenue in Aylesbury and Woodways in Haddenham.
HS2 says the date may change due to conditions outside of their control.
