Local MP Rob Butler has welcomed the news that the Government’s extended Household Support Fund is available to Buckinghamshire Council from this week.
An additional £4,798,381 is being provided locally in this latest round of funding to help families that need support with rising costs.
The new money takes the total level of support provided to Buckinghamshire residents to £11,995,953. It comes on top of further measures introduced by the Government including means-tested £900 Cost of Living Payments, a £150 payment for disabled people, and £300 for pensioner households.
Mr Butler said: “Many families in Aylesbury have been struggling with rising costs caused by global pressures, including Russia’s illegal and inhumane war in Ukraine. That’s why I am so pleased that the Government has made almost £5 million extra available to vulnerable residents in Bucks through the Household Support Fund. This builds on our record of helping those most in need in these difficult times, including with the Energy Price Guarantee which lasts until the end of March next year.”
Mims Davies, the Minister for Social Mobility commented: “The Household Support Fund has been a lifeline for many people who are struggling with rising living costs. From 1 April 2023, these additional funds are being made available to local authorities as we extend the Household Support Fund for another year, helping those most in need with the cost of essentials.”
