Laura Kyrke-Smith, Member of Parliament for Aylesbury, has announced the launch of her Community Champion Awards, a new initiative aimed at recognising the unsung heroes who contribute tirelessly to life in Aylesbury and surrounding villages.
In a statement released today, Kyrke-Smith said she was “excited to launch a new way of celebrating the people and organisations who make Aylesbury and our villages such special places to live.” The awards will spotlight individuals and groups who go the extra mile — from volunteers and youth mentors to community organisers and environmental stewards.
“Every day, people are making a difference, whether it's by running local events, helping neighbours, or simply being a quiet source of support,” Kyrke-Smith noted. “Now it’s time to say thank you.”
Residents are invited to submit nominations through an online form here, (external website), with one Community Champion to be selected and honoured each month.
The initiative is part of Kyrke-Smith’s broader effort to bring attention to grassroots efforts and foster a greater sense of local pride and civic engagement. “Let’s shine a light on the people who give so much for others,” she urged. “I can’t wait to read your nominations and celebrate the unsung heroes of Aylesbury and our villages.”
