Data suggests that the latest Covid-19 surge is showing signs of easing in Buckinghamshire, with reported cases and hospitalisations decreasing significantly in the past week.
The last seven days has seen 707 reported new cases, compared to 1,195 the previous week – a 41% decrease.
Currently, 43 people are in hospital with Covid-19 in Buckinghamshire, down from 74 nine days ago.
There have been 12 deaths within 28 days of a positive test reported in the past week, but as this data lags behind infections, this is not unexpected.
The recent wave was driven by the newest Omicron variants BA.4 and BA.5, thought to be the most contagious so far.
The most reported symptom before testing positive according to the ZOE health study app is a sore throat, with headache, blocked nose and cough as the next most common symptoms.
