Buckinghamshire will receive £1,018,954 to combat drug and alcohol misuse over the next two years.
The Government has awarded the cash to Buckinghamshire Council.
The extra funding means that total local authority funding for treatment will have increased 40% between 2020/21 and 2024/25.
It will enable the creation of over 50,000 high-quality places in drug and alcohol treatment.
Buckingham MP Greg Smith told Bucks Radio: “This is very welcome new targeting spending for Buckinghamshire to help people struggling with addiction and cut the crimes that are all too often committed as a result of those addictions. Drugs in particular are a scourge on society and I am hopeful this additional spending will bring tangible results here in Buckinghamshire.”
