The latest Covid-19 data shows that the infection rate in the region is now higher than at any other time during the pandemic as the highly transmissible Omicron variant sweeps the nation.
Buckinghamshire’s infection rate is now 940.5 per 100,000 people – 54% higher than a fortnight ago.
This is also significantly higher than the average across the whole of the UK which is 777.6.
5,145 new cases have been reported over the past seven days in the county, which is around twice the amount typically seen over the autumn.
Sadly, five people have died with Covid-19 on their death certificate in Buckinghamshire in the last week, taking the total for the region to 1,308 since the start of the pandemic.
Over a quarter of a million Bucks residents have now had their booster shot and experts say this is critical in fighting the new variant.
