Firefighters responded to a bedroom fire in Aylesbury on Tuesday,
Two crews were sent to Bicester Road at just before 7:30pm.
A fire in a second-floor bedroom was out when they arrived.
The firefighters removed a mattress that had been involved in the fire and dampened it down. They also provided advice.
The fire is believed to have been caused by an occupant smoking in bed.
A spokesperson for the fire service said: "Despite the overall number of people smoking cigarettes or tobacco falling, fires caused by smoking materials result in more deaths than any other type of fire."
"We provide some tips on how to stay safe if you smoke in the house, or know someone who does, visit our Smoking page, within our Safety Advice Hub."
