Parks and play areas across Buckinghamshire have been boosted by a programme of improvement works over the past year - and more are planned for 2023.
The works have seen new parks pop up as well as old play equipment being replaced with modern, up to date facilities designed to stimulate and encourage creative play.
Both High Wycombe and Calvert Green have received new play areas in 2022 and there have also been significant upgrades made to multiple play facilities across Aylesbury including at Walton Court and Bedgrove Park.
Early next year, work is expected to start on a new large, colourful play facility in Aylesbury’s Vale Park and the construction of a new skate park at Bridge Street in Buckingham.
Upgrades are also planned for Higginson Park in Marlow and The Rye in High Wycombe.
Clive Harriss, Cabinet Member for Culture and Leisure said:
“We are really pleased to have been able to improve so many play areas across the county in the past year with more works planned for other areas in the coming year, including the exciting prospect of a new country park in Stoke Poges which will offer a whole range of leisure opportunities for visitors.
"We know pressures on budgets are huge for everyone and that includes us as a council, but at the same time we have made a promise to residents that we will continue investing in our communities and this work is part of that. These are parks and play areas that are used by families and children all year round and so it is important to us that modern and engaging play facilities around the county are freely available for all children to enjoy.”
