The MP for Buckingham Greg Smith has questioned health secretary Matt Hancock over the backlog of people diagnosed with cancer awaiting their first treatment.
The charity Macmillan estimated that due to the pandemic over 39,000 people are waiting for vital treatment, with 51 estimated to be waiting in Buckingham alone.
Greg told us what he is doing to try and help this issue:
"I'm pressuring the government to ensure that there is the adequate resourcing and focus within our NHS to ensure that the cancer backlog is caught up quickly, and people get the treatment they need as rapidly as possible."
The Health secretary did assure Greg Smith that extra funding will be made available to help tackle the backlog of treatment.
The pandemic has had a huge impact on our NHS and the hardworking staff within it, but they are open - and it is vital that anyone concerned about their health seeks the medical care they need.
