The Town Hall is home to a fascinating collection of historical and modern artworks. These include paintings of former Mayors dating back to the early 20th century. But the collection isn’t yet complete – and this is where you might be able to help the Council find the missing Mayoral portraits!
Some of the missing portraits may be tucked away in a loft, or come to light during a house clearance. In fact, one was recently recovered this way!
The council are currently looking for portraits of the following former Mayors:
Mayor Robert William Locke – 1917–1919
Mayor James Robinson – 1919–1922
Mayor Viscount Stopford OBE – 1927–1928
Mayor Rupert East – 1929–1930
Mayor Giacomo Gargini – 1932–1935

If you think you or someone you know might have any information about these portraits, please get in touch. Email mayor@aylesburytowncouncil.gov.uk
