The latest Covid-19 data for Buckinghamshire shows that the infection rate in the region continues to reach new highs as the Omicron variant spreads.
For the first time in the pandemic, over 1 in 100 people (1.26) are now testing positive for Covid-19 in Bucks, with the true number expected to be significantly higher – for example in London it is estimated that 1 in 10 people had Covid-19 at Christmas.
Weekly data to 23rd December reveals 6,912 new cases in the county – almost a thousand a day.
While reporting has been inconsistent over the holiday period, it can be seen that seven people died in Buckinghamshire within 28 days of a positive Covid-19 test between 11th December – 22nd December.
56.5% of those eligible in Bucks have now had their booster shot, which experts say is critical for fighting the new variant.
Walk-in jabs are available at the Mandeville Stadium Vaccination Centre between 09:30am - 12pm on Tuesday 28th December and Friday 31st December.

While NHS figures on the vaccination status of people in intensive care are not available, research by the Intensive Care National Audit and Research Centre shows the overwhelming majority of people in intensive care in London who had Covid-19 in November had not been vaccinated.
Today it has been reported that doctors told the Prime Minister that up to 90% of patients in intensive care have not had their booster.
