Vegan Market returns to Aylesbury

Aylesbury Market Square is delighted to host the return of the ever-popular Vegan Market on Sunday 24 October from 10:30am to 4pm.

The event brings together up to 40 stalls, including a huge variety of vegan street food, artisan bakers, craft brewers, ethical jewellers, sustainable chandlers, local artists, zero-waste champions, environmental charities and loads more. In addition, Harry's Tricks - a jazz trio - will be entertaining the public while they browse, shop and eat at the market.

"It's also good to see just how green the Vegan Market is. For example, any waste generated at the market by the visitors or stall holders, is either recycled or composted. The traders take home their rubbish to be recycled and visitors can use the bins on the high street. The market also has a no single-use plastic policy and encourages customers to bring their own Tupperware and bags to fill with."

Thinking about how you might travel to visit the market in an environmentally friendly way? If so, here are a few options for you to consider:

Have you tried out the one of the many Zipp e-scooters located across Aylesbury? Buckinghamshire Council has implemented an electric scooter rental trial to help support a ‘green’ alternative to local travel that is convenient, clean and affordable and helps to mitigate reduced public transport capacity and allow for social distancing as a result of the Covid-19 Pandemic. E-scooters can reduce reliance on car trips, reduce congestion and improve air quality.

Alternatively, you could get some exercise and cycle into town on one of the many cycle routes. There is cycle storage at The Exchange and outside 146, the cafe in Hale Leys. You could also take a brisk or leisurely walk into town, a healthy option which might suit you.

If you have an electric vehicle (EV), drivers can now take advantage of four new EV charging points in Aylesbury town centre’s Waterside North Car Park. Eight EV charging bays are located in front of the new BP Pulse charging points, enabling up to eight EVs to be simultaneously charged. Each charging point delivers 7kWh, which is enough electricity to provide most EVs with around 25 miles of range for every hour they are plugged into one of the charging points.

You could even book an environmentally friendly taxi from one of the taxi firms in Aylesbury to get you to the market.
