Number 4 of 10 events I will be completing in memory of my dad Keith Ratcliffe and to raise much needed funds for Rennie Grove hospice care who are an outstanding charity that help with palliative care in the home so patients can choose not to spend their final days in hospital, they can be at home surrounded by loved ones.
Rat race Canterbury Trails:
That route in large part followed the old Roman road of Watling Street and connected Southwark with Canterbury over some 67 miles (100 + KM) of distance.
The objective is to re-trace the steps of CHAUCER’S PILGRMS in one serving, weaving our way through LEAFY South London to Rochester Castle before heading onwards through tranquil lowland orchards and beside the North Downs, before terminating at THE MAGNIFICENT Canterbury Cathedral.
An oddity of the Pilgrimage of Yore was that the Pilgrims would complete the final 3 miles barefoot, as a penance. I intend to do likewise for the final mile…!
